Which topics we write, which we don't, and how reports and takedowns work.

1. The idea

Reading Scout makes friendly beginner books. The joke is always on the topic, never on the reader. Every request is checked before writing starts, and some topics get a gentler angle or are turned down.

2. What we won't write

  • Sexual content, and anything sexual involving minors.
  • Instructions for weapons, explosives, or hurting people.
  • Making or getting illegal drugs, hacking, fraud, or other crimes.
  • Self-harm or suicide methods. We'll point to support instead.
  • Hate, harassment, or attacks on people or groups.
  • Books about real private people, or ones that impersonate real authors or brands.

3. Topics we handle carefully

For health, money, legal, and other serious topics, we write a beginner overview and point to professionals. Sometimes we suggest a better angle instead of the exact request.

4. Reporting a book

If a book breaks these rules, use Report on the book page, or the Contact page. A person reviews every report.

5. What happens next

Books that break the rules are taken down. Accounts that keep breaking them get strikes, and repeat or serious cases are banned.
