Children's Privacy Notice
Who this is for
Reading Scout is made for children. A parent or guardian creates the account and adds each reader. Children never need an email address.
We ask a grown-up first
Before we save anything about a child, a grown-up gives permission. A card payment that notifies the account holder is one way we check this.
What we collect about a child
- A first name or nickname, never a last name.
- Birth month and year.
- An avatar made from shapes, never a photo.
- Their reading color, sound step and the settings you choose.
- What they read and which words they tap, so we can help them grow.
What we never collect
No photos, voice recordings, locations, contacts, or messages to other people.
Story writing and names
Our story writer never sees your child's name. It writes with a placeholder, and the name is added afterwards. Anything a child types is checked for personal details before it is used.
No ads, no trackers
No ads, ad identifiers or outside analytics run anywhere a child can go.
Service providers
Companies that help us write stories, draw pictures or read words aloud act only on our behalf and may not train on your family's data. We ask for separate permission before sharing a child's information with anyone else.
Your choices
You can see, download and delete each reader's data at any time from the Grown-Up Corner.
How long we keep data, and how we protect it
We keep a child's data only while the account is active and delete it when you ask. We follow a written data retention policy and a written security program.
