Terms of Service
Last updated October 10, 2026
1. Who we are
Reading Scout ("we", "us") runs readingscout.app, a site that writes friendly beginner books on almost any topic. By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Your account
You can read and create some books without an account. An account lets you save books, sync your reading spot, publish, and buy downloads.
- Keep your login details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us a real email address so we can send you your books and important notices.
- You can delete your account at any time from My Account.
3. Who owns the books
Reading Scout owns every book made on the site, including its text, cover, images, and the EPUB and PDF files. That's true whether you came up with the topic or someone else did.
In return, you get a personal, non-transferable license to read and download the books you created or bought, for your own use. You may not resell them, republish them elsewhere, or pass them off as your own work.
4. Publishing to the store
When you publish a book, it is listed in the public store under your pen name, and other people can read, buy, and rate it. Publishing is permanent: a published book stays published, even if you delete your account.
You can remove a book from your store view. Anyone who already has it keeps access. Publishing is also covered by the Creator Terms.
5. Purchases and credits
When buying is turned on, a purchase gives you the PDF and EPUB of that book for good. Prices are shown before you pay. Credits you earn from sales are applied automatically unless you switch them off, and they have no cash value until cash-outs are offered.
6. What you may not do
- Ask for books that break the Content Policy.
- Pretend to be another person, author, or brand.
- Scrape, copy, or bulk-download the site, or try to get around limits, payments, or security.
- Use the site to harass anyone or break the law.
7. Takedowns
We may remove any book or account that breaks these Terms or the Content Policy. A takedown for a violation removes the book for everyone, including people who bought it.
8. AI-made content
Books are written by AI and provided as-is. They are for learning the basics and are not professional advice, whether medical, legal, financial, or any other kind. Check anything important with a qualified person.
9. Limits on our liability
The site is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the date at the top. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new Terms.
